CAT Public License Version 1.0, 24th of October, 1997 Copyright (! Copyright) in 1997, Dirk Steins Any change to this licence is not allowed. Translation to the English language 2003-04-14 by Ekkehard Flessa (EF) and Lycos. This document describes the licence agreements concerning all the current and future programs which originate from the CAT project. This licence is binding for all programs and sources that have arisen or will arise from this project. The project CAT has evolved from the MausTausch-program CAT for TOS- compatible computers. The aim of the project is not letting the development of CAT fade away in spite of the original authors dropping the project, but continuously evolving and improving it. The project CAT comprises the programs CAT, CATPUTZ, REPAIR and FRED as well as any installation programs and every other program that is published under use of the sources of the above programs. This licence serves for the regulation of passing on, copying and modifying of parts of or the whole project. This licence in some parts resembles the GNU Public licence, but isn't as complete and extensive as the latter. 1. Extent: The project CAT consists of the programs CAT, CATPUTZ, FRED, REPAIR, INSTALL and all other programs, that are developed in the course of this project and under use of the sources of this project under this licence. This includes every program of which the owner of the copyright declares that it's distributed under this licence. Furthermore, it includes the sources in UDO-format of the manuals for the different programs. 2. The library Magic by Peter Hellinger in the modified version 3.3 is part of the project CAT. In the provided form, this library may only be used for programs within the project CAT. For all other programs, using this version of the Magic-library is not allowed. There are newer versions of this library available under the name TrueMagiC for use with other projects. These are available from Peter Hellinger @ N (Peter_hellinger@n.maus.de), where one also may obtain the exact terms of use for this library. (As of winter 2002/2003, MAUS N no longer exists, so the above address is invalid. 2003-04-14 EF) 3. The project CAT may with all sources be copied to and distributed on any kind of media, provided that indications to the copyright and guarantee regulations are always included in a suitable place. All indications on this licence and on the absence of any guarantee must be maintained and may not be changed. This licence must be delivered with every part of the project. 4. All parts of the project CAT are Freeware. It is not allowed to create commercial software from parts or the whole of the project CAT, nor sell this entire project or parts of it with expelled profit achievement intentions. Explicitly excluded from this regulation are fees for physical distribution of every copy such as for example CD-expense or diskette expenses. 5. Changing of the programs or parts of them is allowed, thus creating a work based on the project, and so is distributing and copying of these changes or the work under the regulations of section 4, provided that the following regulations are kept: (a) Every change in the files must explicitly be marked nearby and the date of these changes must be stored in the files. For files, where this is not possible due to technical reasons (Resource-files or similar), the changes have to be comprehensively explained in an accompanying text file. (b) All sources of the changed program must be provided, including such based upon the sources of the CAT- project and developed anew. 6. It is allowed to copy and distribute the executables or modified versions thereof without including the sources, provided that the complete sources are made available to the public and accessible for everyone. If necessary, the author of the changes must agree upon copying and distributing the changed sources against pay of the expenses. To fulfil this condition, it's sufficient to make the complete sources available from public bbs or ftp-servers. 7. The copyright-owner of this licence may publish extended and changed versions of this licence. These changed versions of this licence will correspond to the sense of this licence, but can distinguish in details in order to address and enclose new problems and reflections. The copyright-owner of this licence is entitled to transmitting this licence to some third party, provided that they want to go on working according to the senses of this licence. EXCLUSION OF GUARANTEE 8. Due to the fact that the whole CAT-project is distributed free of charge, there is no guarantee for this project and parts of it, so far this is legally allowed. This project is provided "as is", without guarantee of any sort, neither direct nor indirect, including, but not limited to, effectiveness for any purpose. The whole risk for use or non-use of the contained information and/or programs and/or parts of it is up to the user! Under no circumstances will anybody, regardless if alive, seemingly dead or dead, and/or any group consisting of (or pretending to) human beings or any other (more or less) intelligent species (including, but not limited to, from the planet sometimes referred to as SOL III) modifying and/or spreading, regardless if legal or illegal, this project and/or parts of it or another project linked to it and/or program or parts thereof, be in any way responsible for any damage, including, but not limited to, missed/reduced/lost profit, money, reputation, health, friends/girlfriends etc., that might implicitly or explicitly emerge from the usage or non-usage of this project and/or programs and/or parts thereof.
